BAND BASICS

What’s your name and what do you play in The Resignators

Stacy Kilpatrick, I play keys and saxes

How long have you been with the band?

15 years

How did you first get involved with The Resignators?

I auditioned on Sax and Keys, although both were new instruments for The Resignators, they were needed to recreate the recordings on “See You In Hell”.

MUSICAL INFLUENCES & FAVORITES

What was the first album you ever bought?

Daddy Cool’s “Lollipop” and Supertramp’s “Breakfast in America” Who are your top three musical influences? Top three? That’s a hard decision but as a teen I hooked solidly into listening to Bob Marley and Patti Smith, and later Ry Cooder with Buena Vista Social Club

What’s your favorite Resignators song to play live and why?

I love playing “Wish I Wish” because it’s so angsty and powerful! Also, “Down in Flames” because of the Latin style keys I play on that song.

If you could collaborate with any artist (living or dead), who would it be?

I would love to collaborate with Voodoo Glow Skulls! The Casillas brothers are a force of nature. I was fortunate to sit in with them on baritone sax when they came to Australia

ON TOUR

What’s the best gig you’ve ever played?

We’ve played so many brilliant places. One that stands out is in Canada at the Victoria Ska and Reggae Festival, a big outdoor stage with a huge rocking audience, right on the harbour! I am excited that we get to play it for our fourth time in 2025!

Funniest or weirdest thing that’s happened on tour?

Post Dresden gig, after too many tequila shots I must’ve blacked out, faceplanted onto the cobblestone laneway and woke up next day with a bloodied face. Weird because I can’t remember falling, hmmm….

What’s your go-to snack or drink on the road?

Coffee and doughnuts if I’m ignoring my no sugar rule, which I seem to do frequently on the road.

Any pre-show rituals or superstitions?

Not really, I just get on with making sure I’m ready to blast through a ripping set!

PERSONAL VIBES

When you’re not making music, what are you into?

Running 2 clothing businesses - Alt Finery and Rocking Billys. With my degree in botany I also enjoy gardening.

What's a fun fact about you that fans might not know?

Fun fact is that as an 8-year-old I learned piano for a few years then changed to Oboe for 5 years as a teen. I figured this was way too daggy so I swapped to learning Saxophone for a few years. As a uni student I picked up the fiddle to learn Irish and Americana fiddle tunes, then I played guitar and mandolin in my blues band called

‘Honey Rice Childe” with the Fuck Fucks guitarist Tristan Miller. (RIP)

If you weren’t in a band, what would you be doing?

If I wasn’t in a band I’d be in a mosh pit. Describe your perfect day off. Rummaging through op shops like a bin chicken, then heading out for a sail around the Whitsunday Islands and floating in a warm ocean dodging jellyfish.

FAN CONNECTION

What’s one message you want to give to Resignators fans? Keep dancing! Keep coming to gigs! Keep heckling us on stage! Keep dressing up, I love ska fashion!

What’s been the most memorable fan interaction you’ve had?

Hanging out with the mosh pit señoritas after our show at Licores Esmeralda in Tecate Mexico. The afterparty with The Skank Agents in San Diego after playing Soma. Spending a lot of time with all our friends and fellow ska musicians at Supernova International Ska Festival every year. Renee’s neighbourhood party in Victoria BC after Vic Ska Fest.

JUST FOR FUN Pineapple on pizza: yes or no?

Hell yeah!

That’s a big ¡Sí, señor, por favor!

Zombie apocalypse who in the band survives the longest and why? I would obviously survive a Zombie attack the longest, because in Japan all girls turn into a Zombie called “Stacy” when they turn 16 (Check out the Japanese horror movie, “Stacy: the Attack of the Schoolgirl Zombies”)

If The Resignators had a theme song (other than your own), what would it be? Cherry Bomb by the Runaways because I love The Resignators’ cherry skull logo!
